Plugin’s act the same way as applications do on your smartphone. That being said, there are the good, the bad, and the ugly to be aware of. Like all big decisions in your life, before deciding on a premium plugin purchase (or even a free download), do your research and make sure the plugin you’re interested in using is validated by reviews and support.
